Happy Birthday

Hey there Birthday Boy:

I guess what I have to wish you is the knowledge that you are on the right path, the faith that the actions you take are the right ones, even when they turn out to be the wrong ones.

May your curiosity take you to better and better places. May you find there the things you never knew you were looking for but you were glad you found.

May you continue to grow wiser, and may you find more reasons to laugh every day.

May people read your thoughts and be lifted, carried to new worlds. May they respond, and laugh, and cry, and think, and put a smile on your face.

May you find friendship and never be lacking for people to share your journey. And may you find the one, in her time, to laugh, and cry, and make new human beings, and grow old with.

And may the world be a better place for you having visited it. And may that visit be a good long, wealthy, healthy, joy of a ride.

All I Can Do Right Now

I am still working on the how to be interested. There should exist a methodical approach to becoming interested in nearly anything. Or maybe a few approaches for different types of things. But I have not yet reached the bottom of the methodical approach, so for now if you want to become interested seek out and immerse yourself in things related to the subject. Familiarity breads affection, even in a non-romantic or human sense. That's the best I can do right now.

Goodnight.

Pre-Post 68 (Sciences In Art)

Today's color is #4efbe0

Why is it that sometimes no matter how much we want to know something, we can't seem to get interested in some of the basics we need to understand such a thing? Why is it that we seem to exclude artists from needing to know science? Can't you be inspired by the laws of the world? In music, the attitude is that you have to know the rules to break them. What are the rules you can break in painting?
Many musicians created genius work without knowing the science behind why music works. But some knew the science and used it to create equally enjoyable works. Is it not better to have these tools at your disposal? So in painting and other fields of art, what scientific tools don't we have? What rules of the world can we subvert or break?

I don't know. But I think many artists did know these things. Leonardo da Vinci had knowledge of the sciences as they were at the time, and sometimes his art was inspired by that, and sometimes he had different inspirations.
Imitate the flow of water; you can use math to play with perspective in ways only a savant could before.
And you can make the surreal real. By having it interact with a false world as such a thing would interact with the real one.

Be Interested

  12/09/20 05:58, by , Categories: Ilan's Red Space

So I can not yet explain my method for becoming interested in almost anything. Still, it boils down to the easy "figure out how this thing is important and changed the world" Or for all other subjects, find a guide to the basics, then watch someone explaining an expert at work, or a review of someone doing a thing at a world-class level.
Now some subjects don't fall into these categories, but I couldn't simplify those things further.

But you don't need the how time, willingness, and sometimes the internet, are all you need to become interested in something. Now tomorrow is when I'll focus on how to become interested in harder areas. How to develop the willingness, the best things to do with the internet if developing a new interest is your goal, etc, etc.

Now let's focus on why you should become more interested, and since I have not put quite the time and effort into this half of the equation so I'll throw together a quick list, and if it needs more focus, I'll do that after the how. (to me, it is obvious why, but my opinions don't always correlate with fact.)
And no matter who you are there should be a reason for you.

  1. To acquire more topics of conversation, to seem more approachable to more people. - when someone mentions what they like or one of their hobbies and you express interest or begin conversation, it makes the social interaction much easier for both of you.

    -
  2. To help create more social bonds or to get into new social groups - For groups of classmates or colleagues, then having something to add to their conversations really helps. And if you can hear their interests then learn to share them, you can easily get in with at least one member of the group, and later they can introduce you to the rest.

    -
  3. You can have facets - especially if your interests are varied and you act into them.

    -
  4. It removes the excuse to not interact - no matter what they talk about, you can learn to participate. (Unless it's gossip, I'm religiously against gossip. And I mean that literally.)

    -
  5. You can pick things up more easily if you are interested - Yeah, I know you didn't want to have to learn this... But Isn't It Cool?!

    -
  6. You increase future job options - I didn't even think of this, but interest leads to learning. And if you show you are interested in the job and it is a real job, your more likely to be interested in joe schmo, who is just here for the paycheck.

    -
  7. It gives you more media you can enjoy consuming - but do you really need more? Well, maybe if you consume media that is expensive to get your hands on...

    -
  8. It gives you a better appreciation for the world - or at least the people in it who put in the work to make these things be.

    -
  9. Learning is good for your brain, and interests motivate you to learn - And supposedly learning helps keep a healthy brain and prevents dementia, but I have not looked for proof to this claim, so I am simply parroting something I've heard before. Still learning is good for other reasons as well. I think...

Have a nice day and I hope I convinced you of something, no matter what that be.

Devil's Deals

  12/08/20 05:57, by , Categories: List of 12, Ilan's Red Space

(This is shorter than I wanted it to be because I just spent over an hour and a half I didn't have on talking with a friend.)
If for the first one of these, you give up you make 80$ a day, and for every subsequent one double that amount. (If you are disabled in some way that already removes from you, then for the sake of this theoretical it counts as if you gave it up.)

  1. The ability to jump

    -
  2. The ability to sweat

    -
  3. No more skin oil - No longer waterproof, pretty certain deck unless you can create very specific circumstances, but if you're maximizing profits, it may be viable.

    -
  4. The ability to heal damaged or broken bones - Now, this is feeling like a risk-reward scenario. Is the fear worth the ten dollars a day? No 640? Maybe...

    -
  5. The ability to cut your sleep short - you always sleep for the full 8 (more or less) hours. Nothing can wake you until time passes.

    -
  6. Low light vision - you are now old and have a pension.

    -
  7. Instant reactions - you are now in control of your reactions to things; you always think before you react, remember not to stop breathing.

    -
  8. Having Two arms - Cut one-off, why don't you.

    -
  9. The ability to learn new languages - this includes programming languages, again you become old. At least in steriotype.

    -
  10. The ability to taste - Now how will you use all this newfound wealth?

    -
  11. Empathy - Not a rare exchange.

    -
  12. The ability to improve your skills. - You shall never beat me at chess, and anyone will be able to surpass you eventually. But on the other hand, money.
